IBM has supplied products and solutions to Senegal since the 1940’s. The expanded presence in Senegal allows IBM to increase its level of service, deliver more complex and high-value solutions such as cloud computing and business analytics.
Overview of IBM Projects in Senegal
In 2016, a Corporate Service Corps mission has been deployed to Dakar. IBM's Corporate Service Corps is a global pro-bono initiative through which IBM deploys teams of top achieving employees to emerging market countries.
The team of 15 IBM consultants worked on Senegal’s Economic Inclusion and Healthcare Transformation Agenda, through projects with the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Research and Expertise in Telemedicine and e-health (CIRET), the Women Enterprise Development in Africa (FDEA) and Senegal’s National Educational Research Network (SnRER). Recommendations were made to Senegalese authorities on a range of issues aimed at supporting Senegal’s drive for accelerated growth in its education, healthcare, medical innovation and micro-finance sectors.
In 2013, a team of IBM specialists completed a month-long pro bono consulting assignment and presented business management strategies to Dakar-based organizations that promote agricultural and food development as well as technology and entrepreneurship skills. IBM worked with:
In 2012, a team of IBM experts presented recommendations to the city of Thiés to grow their economic sector through measures aimed at bolstering entrepreneurialism, agricultural exports, and education. In terms of organic farming and fair-trade, the team worked with Agrécol Afrique to create a strong and consistent national brand that evokes quality and social responsibility and is designed to spur the export of organic foods. To manage the timely and efficient movement of products, the IBM team recommended the use of a customer-focused supply chain model and an information system that uses cost-effective, secure, and convenient cloud technology.

In February 2011, IBM
helped the Customs Directorate of Senegal's Ministry of Finance to modernize
Senegal's import and export processes. Together with business partner CFAO
Technologies, IBM helped the Ministry migrate its import and export processes
for 30 border crossings online, while also digitizing its payroll and Human
Resources processes.
